Prognostic value of liver and kidney function parameters and their correlation with the ratio of urine‐to‐plasma paraquat in patients with paraquat poisoning

Abstract Acute paraquat poisoning resulting from multiple organ failure usually has a high mortality rate. Liver and kidney, as the key oranges of detoxification elimination, their injuries may suppress toxin excretion enhance toxicity in other organs worsen prognosis. Therefore, we intended to explore prognostic value liver kidney function parameters, further evaluate correlation with more stable index urine‐to‐plasma (urine concentrations/plasma concentrations) instead considering concentrations plasma or urine alone. The study included 33 patients acute admitted four centres China January 2018 December 2019. Seventeen (10 male/7 female) survived, whereas 16 (7 male/9 female, 48.48%) died poisoning. Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) blood urea nitrogen (BUN) represent respectively. ratio is negatively correlated ALT ( r = −0.94, P 0 .02) BUN −0.82, 0.03). For receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis, ALT, have an AUC over 0.80. shows that functional indexes well paraquat, could be considered for evaluating extent injury rate paraquat.
